Introduction:

Leisure Activity: Ice Skating

Prior to the study I thought that ice skating was for girls mainly.

I thought this because: (Think about your life experiences, and what has been told to you in life through the media, societal norms, or other influences)

1) Whenever i go to ice skate, the professionals are mainly girls.

2) Most champions are women.

3) Girls enjoy ice skating more than boys do.

3/10 discussed mostly men participating in my leisure activity

Analyze: I can make the following statements about the way gender is portrayed in the media in regards to my leisure activity.

1)Men are the ones who first began ice skating.

2)There are more women are the actual champions.

3) There are a lot of pairs in ice skating.

Out of the images I looked at, the percentage of images showing women doing my leisure activity is 60%
